David C. Romaniuk, QC



Dave is a lawyer who has practiced law in Edmonton since 1980. He is the senior lawyer in the real estate law group and plays an active role in the mentorship of articling students and junior lawyers. He has practiced exclusively in the real estate area for the past 35 years with a primary emphasis on real estate land and project development, real estate joint ventures, acquisitions and dispositions of commercial properties, retail, office and industrial leasing and financing, high rise condominium construction, and drafting commercial real estate agreements.

Dave's clients include a national railway company, national bank, a major electrical power transmission corporation, a pension fund, real estate developer, a national property manager, and a builder of numerous condominium high rises in Edmonton.

He is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, Edmonton Bar Association, Canadian Bar Association and the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce.

Over the years, Dave has participated in organizing several charity events and has sat on numerous volunteer Boards including the Windermere Golf & Country Club, the Canadian Progress Club and the Uncles at Large Society. He previously coached in the Edmonton Minor Hockey Association for twelve years. He has raised funds for the Blue Quill Community League, Southwest United Soccer Club, Confederation Hockey Club, Edmonton Girls' Hockey Association and the Canadian Skin Cancer Society.

Dave was honoured to receive an appointment as Queen's Counsel in 2014. The appointment recognizes outstanding contributions to the legal profession and the community. In 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 he was selected by his peers to be included in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory in the property development category. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in Canada in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 in the field of Commercial Leasing Law and for Real Estate Law in 2021.

In his spare time he enjoys working out, running, golfing and playing hockey.
