John M. Hope, KC



John M. Hope, KC is the senior member of Duncan Craig LLP's litigation group. His law practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation, insurance law, labour law, product liability and alternative dispute resolution.

In 2011, John was inducted as a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America which recognizes accomplishment in litigation and limits its membership to 3,500 fellows. Throughout his career, he has also been recognized by Best Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell as preeminent in his field.

John is a member of the Law Societies of Alberta and the Northwest Territories. He regularly appears before all levels of court in Alberta and has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta and has appeared before the Federal Court of Canada, Federal Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of Yukon, Supreme Court of Saskatchewan, Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories, Court of Appeal of the Northwest Territories and the Supreme Court of Canada.

John has served as a lecturer and panelist for numerous organizations including the Legal Education Society of Alberta, the Alberta Lawyers Insurance Association and the Edmonton Legal Forum. He is also the former Executive Member of the Edmonton Bar Association, former Director of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association and is a Director and past President of the Canadian Team Cattle Penning Association.

John M. Hope, KC was named the Best Lawyers' 2019 and 2012 Edmonton Product Liability Law Lawyer of the Year and was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in Canada 2014 in the field(s) of Corporate and Commercial Litigation law, Insurance law and Product Liability law. John has been recognized for this each year since 2006. For 2017, John is rated AV Preeminent, which is the highest qualification that Martindale-Hubbell can bestow upon a lawyer.
